Fresh Crow For Dinner!

And I am the first to eat! Today's Shelby County Democratic Party Ward & Precinct Caucuses were, well, an absolute lovefest, and that's no joke! The bloodbath that I shrewdly (and incorrectly) predicted for today was NOTHING like that, and it could not have gone smoother.

Today's winners? I don't know about any of the candidates for Chair, but a HUGE shoutout has to go to Democracy for Memphis and its' defacto leader, Desi Franklin. It appears that they may have brought as many as 150 (!) new people to the Caucuses. It's now yet known how many of them were elected as delegates to the July 23 SCDP Convention (again at the U of M University Center, a terrific central location - props to John Freeman!), but they had, and WILL HAVE a serious effect on who will be on the next Executive Committee, and as such, the next chair.

Heavy applause must also go to Myra Stiles and Joyce (Akehurst) Quintrell for their excellent management of this convention. It's unimaginable how the show could have run without them and their crack staff (yes, I'm one of them, Joyce won't allow me to miss it!).

So who wins the chair? Damned if I know; stay tuned and we'll see what happens on July 23.

Democracy For Memphis, under the direction of David Holt, and MidSouth Democrats In Action, spearheaded by Desi Franklin who is a member of the steering committee of this group, did in fact bring many new people to the convention(and the process)today. Though we are still tallying our numbers, will most likely be taking 50 plus delegates to the July 23 elections of the committee. We are extremly proud of the turnout we were able to achieve. We also add our praises to Myra Stiles et al for an orderly and efficient convention.

Of Course you know that Desi Franklin
is trying to overthrow the party because
she is being propted by the repupligans
because she is one first she works for baker donnalson nuff said next I checked
her voting record seems she didn't even vote in the Feb Democratic primary nor
has she even voted in a Demo primary since 96 but she has voted in the last 3
republican one's all I have to say is
maybe she just changed or maybe she just
got busted

Well, Buck Lewis, the former TDP Chair, is a partner at Baker Donelson, I believe. Also, Farris Hancock has Republicans working for them, so I'm not sure I buy this.

She may have voted in 3 GOP primaries, but when you take the pledge at the Convention, it's about your FUTURE behavior, not your PREVIOUS behavior.

First Off Dewayne I haven't lied never have, secoundly go look your self at the election commission. It really doesn't matter if she took the pleadge to be democratic however there are many people
who get excited over national issues, that
still just never seam to get to the polls
for local and state elections, you know the ones that effect you the most!Remember this the party deals in local issues so maybe we can make a differance in working together. I'll assume your working right now for a local candidate either in State House or State Senate elections? Didn't Think So.....
