About the Knoxville shootings..

You knew, of course, that something like this was bound to happen.  Decent people, enjoying a production of ANNIE in their Unitarian Universalist Church, and some worthless bastard comes in and starts shooting at people, and blames liberals for screwing up the world.

Right.  

Of course, the UUs are working on rebuilding their lives and healing all who were affected; that's what they do.  Unfortunately, as Katie Allison Granju notes, there are those that, while they hate the shooting, probably agree with this no-good bastard that liberals are at fault, and talk radio feeds their hate.  

This is why, as one of his first acts as President, Barack Obama needs to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.  Yes, it will wipe out Progressive Talk, but it will also wipe out Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, and those other denizens of hatred of everyone non-white, non-rightwing and non-Christian fundie.  Fox News, of course, would either have to start employing real journalists or shut down; either way, we are all better off.
