Kathyrn Bowers is going to fight!

According to this CA article, Kathyrn Bowers has decided NOT to plead out on bribery charges and will instead go to trial, which will be sometime this spring. Bravo for Kathryn!

Call me too idealistic, call me naive, whatever you want, but I am rooting for her. These charges are a stain on what has otherwise been a sterling career of public service, and I hope she is acquitted. After all that's happened to her recently, it's a good sign that she still has the stamina to fight.

I hope I win the lottery too but, you have to buy a ticket to win! She's got about as much chance of beating this charge as I do winning the lottery.
If these charges are proven, like all of us, she will have been the author of her own destruction.

It's sad that a person allows themself to go down that slippery slope when they are in a position to do so much for people.

Honorable career or not, if she did the crime she should pay the price, and nobody should shed a tear for her. If we (Democrats) don't stand up against our own who do wrong then how are we any better than Tom Delay and Co.?

IF Kathryn is found guilty, then she deserves whatever sentence she gets, but not BEFORE.

EVERYONE has the right to a trial by a jury of their peers, according to what's left of the Constitution.

I don't think anyone denies that. In this country's legal system, you are presumed innocent. Outside of that, as you will. If she is innocent, then she should fight and I hope she is freed.

I'm not a judge though, so I'm free to take into account the fact that she is on tape taking bribes, was planning on pleading guilty, and everyone else in the Waltz has pled guilty or been convicted. With that said, I make my biased assumption and say GOOD RIDDANCE!!!
I might add, that we don't presume Bob Ney, Tom Delay, or Jack Abramoff are innocent, do we? I'm quite bi-partisan in my desire to throw corrupt officials out.

Bowers is throwing it all down the gutter if she doesn't just go ahead and plead. It seems that she is doing this against her attorney's advice.

And all that god talk is just her hoping that public opinion will somehow cause folks to come to the court room and stare down the judge and the jury.

Ain't gonna happen when they release the tape that has her taking the money.

Whatever anyone's opinion is of her, she has the right to a trial but that opens her up to doing some real time in jail. Perhaps that is what she is hoping for so that she can then plead too old and frail to withstand prison.
