He's not so good he'll just spue his pro Herington comments around like he did the
other day on the reason city workers and MLGW workers should get car allowances..
He probably wants them to go back to 12 year retirements also. He even called it racial to take away these allowances.....

I seriously doubt he'll talk about local politics for three hours. The Grey Matter spots are just spots. I believe they were intended to inject a some local issues into the mostly national politics of the station.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the car thing does "smell racial". When the media has a slow day they decide to dig into an issue that isn't an issue and try to make it a story. Is it a coincidence that black politicians are always the target of thse non-stories? I think not. They do this all the time, especially on Over Reaction News 5.

Channel five is the worst of the offenders, but several local media outlets frequently use the "lets bait Mr. and Mrs. Germantown" angle and if you are honest about it you know it's true.

I know Leon and he's a great guy. His show will be good. Just give it a shot.

The Car allowances are in no way a Racial
There are probably as many white directors recieving them as black just so you'll know and I know Leon also. The city can't aford to take our senior citizens to the Lewis center but they
are still getting their car allowance until Nov.30th there's no over reaction
just the city ripping us off big dummy
wake up smell the coffee. Quit trying to
see the truth........

The allowances themselves are not racial. On that we agree. The media decision to flip out about them is because race baiting is very very easy and they don't have to do any actual work to make it a story.

Instead of trying to make it look like these black politicians are ripping everyone off, they could have taken the angle that maybe we should change the transportation allowance laws. That would have been an actual story. But that would have meant the media would have to do it's job. We certainly can't have that now can we?

You are probably right that there are just as many white officials receiving the benefit, but the media chooses not to focus on that. Why? Race baiting gets ratings. It rhymes and it is the philosophy of some of the less scrupulous news rooms around town.

Perhaps you shouldn't call people dummy, especially when you missed the point to begin with. I never said that politicians should continue to get these allowances. What I was talking about was the media's coverage of it, which was also the point of Leon's commentary.

I don't always agree with Leon, but I'm very glad he's willing to talk about race. Nobody else is, and it's a big problem.
