It's starting to crank up now..

First, Flyer publisher Ken Neill published his letter to Harold Ford Jr. calling him out for not showing up at the Convention on Saturday.

Now, The Pesky Fly points out that Jr.'s primary opponent, Rosalind Kurita, not only made brownie points with the SCDP crowd, she is even cracking on Bu$h regarding the nomination of stealth candidate John Roberts for the Supreme Court.

Both are worthy of a read!

Dyno, the pro-gun thing I could do without, but you're totally WRONG about Kurita's position on choice. The prime quote:

"I think everyone is pro-life," Kurita says. "Nobody is for abortion. I also believe women should be able to make their own health care choices. Government should not be able to intrude into what should be a personal, family decision."

Her personal belief is that abortions should only happen when the mother's life is in danger-- and she know's that everyone else is entitled to their personal belief.

Think first dyno.

It's possible to think for yourself and legislete for everyone.

Well put, and as I've often said on my own blog, I'm only interested in Kurita becasuse she's the anti-Ford in areas that I think are important. She's a fine catcher, but she throws like a sissy. I want to vote for candidate I can believe in, not against one I don't. But right now that candidate doesn't exist.

You want to get real? Let's get really, really real.

The Democratic party is, in its diversity, more like the American culture in general and our internal problems are a picture perfect reflection of that larger culture, even (especially?) in its fractiousness. To address your Nashville concerns, and to quote an unlikely source (Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy), "There'll be a load of compromisin' on the road to my horizon, but I'm gonna be where the light's a'shinin' on me!"

Until Mr. or Mz, Right files, bad is better than awful and awful is better than hopeless.

Well, I suspect you're right; however, let's not forget Junior's 180 on the subject.

That's why Jim Maynard did the write-in campaign last year.

I've heard her speak a few times now. I can't be 100% sure, but I believe she has said she does suport civil unions. But I can't find a quote though so don't count on my vague memory.

She is not pro-gun just because she's in the south. She is pro-gun because she likes skeet shooting. Oh, and that pesky bill of rights thingy...

I've heard people say she's not pro-choice. I don't know how that rumor got started but it's not so.

She has come out strongly and clearly against the bankruptcy bill and CAFTA. (wish I could say the same for Ford). She's also a strong supporter of veterans and miltary families.

To get a Democrat in the senate we're going to have to win over some of the East Tennessee hillbillies. Maybe Ford can do that, I don't know. Either way, I'll work my butt off for whoever wins the nomination.

Oh, and Nashville may have the large religious organization, but it's still mostly blue (something like 55 or 60% Kerry, Dem Mayor, etc), and it's not part of her district anyway.
