It got a little dusty in Crackerville tonight when I saw Kevin Garnett finally win his first NBA Championship as the Boston Celtics dismembered Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and the Los Angeles Lakers, 131-92, winning the series 4 games to 2.
Garnett, Allen, and 10-year vet Pierce (named Finals MVP) took the Lakers apart with their strangling defense, Allen's seven 3-pointers (a Finals record) and determination. Oh, Griz fans, this was the SECOND championship for ex-Griz James Posey, who also won with Miami in 2006.
As for Gasol, his lack of defensive skills came shining through for LA in this series, as Garnett mostly had his way with the Catalonian. Gee, where have we seen THAT before?
All in all, a great night for the Celtics and for the NBA, congratulations to Doc Rivers, Danny Ainge and the entire Celtics organization for a fabulous year. Maybe some day we'll be able to experience that feeling here.
I hope.

I never thought I'd be writing or saying or thinking these words, but given my disdain for Bryant and his Coach--I make an exception for their UNC General Manager--I've come to a new conclusion: GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all, Paul Pierce went to Kansas and was coached by Roy Williams who was trained by, um, what's his name: oh, that's right, DEAN SMITH. Or, as Moses Malone (MVP 1983 Finals) put it: 'nuf said.
