"The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. ”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt
If Robin Williams is playing, does that mean we can expect a reading from Whitman and the Dead Poet's Society? Or a radio call for "Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood evening, Memphis! Or hear tales told According to Garp--or Glenn Close? Maybe Fishing with the King alongside the Bird Cage? Or perhaps we might hear music about something that stirs us beyond comfort and routine toward something more meaningfuil and long-lasting?
I'm so jealous. Memphis gets ALL the good shows!!! I'm a huge R&LW fan ... I'll be in Nashville stuffing my face with food and wine, but sadly no great music ...
