Ok, Mr. President, you're a SELL-OUT PUNK.

Does that help?

Every time he scores a victory he gets attacked, because the doctrinaire left doesn't like to win, even a partial victory.

We will probably never have health care reform, because the insurance companies probably will not allow it, but the system is so broken now that this guy offers the only chance of partial reform.

Most of the foreclosures in Memphis have historically not been subprime or Alt-A mortgages, but medical bills.

Sure, knock this very useful man, and good luck with the fallout from that. He's a pragmatist, and only a pragmatist can bring any health care reform at this point. I love Hillary, but she was (oddly enough) too idealistic on the issue, so here we are, many broken bodies and lost homes later.

Anon, did you even READ THE FREAKING LINK? Bowers' point is that he WANTS us to call him out to move the debate further left, give him more room to operate.

Oy.

Anon at 10:53 am read the post through the haze of anti-inflammatory pain relievers that aren't working, and missed the irony of LWC calling the Pres a sellout punk. There may be more than one way to move the debate further left, and that may or may not work, but I did read the link, and was not overly impressed with the practicality of doing it the way the link author stated. That's based on my own past experience, which is what all readers and all advocates (from the left, right and "extreme middle," as Walt Kelly famously said)are going to bring to the debate.

No doubt we cannot sit quietly and rely on Obama to do our thinking for us. We have to give him a reason to say "No" to the Right Wing.
We have to be the loudest voice or he cannot justify heeding it.

Same reason we have to push the Single Payer system. In order to get a public factor in our health care.

I would love nothing more than to see Obama just ignore and wipe his ass with the minority, but it just doesn't work that way yet.
Too many Blue Dogshit scumbags capitulating on their knees.

If the chorus for justice is as loud as it was when the Fascists were in power, we'll get what we want.
If not, we'll get a half-assed version of it due to Centrist influence.

When all of us give up our mid-size to large cars--blog originators especially included--and replace them with hybrids or smaller gas users that possibly cramp our leg room, then I'll pay more attention to this latest round of "liberal" blather.
