Finally, it's over, thank heavens

The final case in the Tennessee Waltz scandal has been adjudicated, as former School Board member Michael Hooks Jr. plead guilty to one embezzlement charge this morning; the US Attorney's office agreed to dismiss the other three counts.

This brings to a close a sordid era in local politics, one that teaches a solid lesson: don't be so damn bold in taking money, learn how to disguise bribery like the Republicans do!

Enough said.

Here's some mildly good news for you LWC. Former Jefferson County, Al. Commissioner Gary White(a REPUBLICAN)was convicted this afternoon by a federal grand jury on bribery and corruption charges. I say mildly good news because this is likely going to lead to the indictment of Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford(D)pretty soon. Langford and White were very close when they were on the County Commission and its long been rumored that they took bribe money from contractors working on the sewer system down there in Birmingham.
