Bishop G.E. Patterson has passed away....

Gilbert Earl Patterson, the sixth Presiding Bishop in the history of the Memphis-based Church of God In Christ (COGIC), passed away this afternoon at the age of 67.

As a great many Democrats in this city, county, state and region are parishioners of COGIC churches, please keep the Patterson family and the COGIC members in your thoughts and prayers.

It's too bad GE Patterson was a homophobe. He once said "there is not right to be homosexual."

RIP anyway..

Just talked to Ford's assistant tonight, apparently he was trying to get a flight from Nashville to Memphis, but couldn't, so he'll be driving tonight to get their for Patterson's funeral? wake? memorial? Don't know for sure, but he intends to be there.

Simply given our political disagreements does not mean we can absolve ourselves from offering prayers of condolence to Republicans in similar situations.

May Bishop Patterson rest in peace. I have heard Bishop Patterson speak may times and I do not feel he was homophobic, just a spiritual that was not afraid of preaching the Gospel. He did not just preach about the homosexuals, but liars, fornicators, murderors, gluttons, covetors, thieves and sin as a whole. He said many times let he who is without sin cast the first stone. He dared to do what many spiritual leaders fail to do and that is to preach the gospel to the people whether they liked it or not. It might hurt but it is true any how. I would rather hear the true gospel than to hear the polished version of what I want to and then it be my choice whether I do right or wrong. Be Blessed.
