Verno and Roser skewer Calipari

Fox Sports 730's Chris Vernon and his producer Jon Roser have this video that sums up how we pretty much all feel about Cal now, here's the video:

Who's "we"?

Memphis needs to chill out and go watch "Hoop Dreams" and "He's Got Game."

NBA and academics: It was always like this. Not to mentioned that about a third of people in Memphis/Shelby County, many of whom went through school here, "can't read." And that the allegations against the player shown in the video (who after all gave us a year of thrills in that season and me more thrills when I watched him in this year's NBA playoffs) hasn't yet been found guilty of anything.

Do we want UM to get into the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four? Or do we want to be a school stressing academics. A Duke-caliber school can do both. Memphis probably is incapable of doing both at once even with a Coach Cal AND all of Penny Hardaway's donation generosity.

Calipari gave us some good times. So, we discover he's just not that into us. It was still good while it lasted.

Typo: meant to say that NCAA and academic "passes" and fraud were always like this. To the extent that NBA is the final ticket craved by the high school and college hoop dreamers, NBA is included too.

The whole college sports/NCAA rules need looking at.

If one is trying to complete a four-year college course and earn (really EARN) a degree and pursue a career in something other than the NBA, academics matter greatly. Short of that, the thing the alleged SAT fraud did was to give Rose a chance to compete in the NBA and have --some-- kind of college experience first.

The worst thing in all of this is if Rose did something that causes authorities to take records away from Chance, Robert, and Antonio, and teammates who (as far as we know) didn't do what Rose is accused of doing. Of course, it's like random drug testing: it caught Andre Allen, but who knows who it didn't catch? Same here.

This is kind of like the whole baseball and steroids thing. They should just admit what's going on and have an "enhanced" and "non-enhanced" competition. There should be a place for youngsters who come out of high school with no real college aptitude to learn about life/learn a trade for a year before heading to the NBA. Or they should just let them go directly.

Discuss.

Ah yes Verno. He loves Ian and Lance in Birmingham. You guys know where he went to college? He attended Freed Hardeman with the infamous Shotgun Mary.

For most Duke fans some past and present professor friends excepted): who has more trips to the Final Four, more tournament championships and has won more titles with more trips to the Final Four in THIS decade? NORTH CAROLINA, NORTH CAROLINA, NORTH CAROLINA!!!!!!!! I do so love reminding you of your recent ineptitude.
