I've been waiting for this, and now it's here!

Jackson Baker is reporting tonight at the Flyer site that Senator Steve Cohen will file on Monday at 11 A.M. for the 9th Congressional District seat being vacated by the guy running for the Senate, old whats-his-name.

Old Crackerphiles will tell you that I told everyone in January that if he got in the race, I would support him, and that has not changed. My comments from that post:

What would a Cohen in Congress look like? I suspect he would go after the Bu$h policies like a rabid badger, and represent the 9th District like it hasn't been since, oh, 1996?

Look, I've known Steve Cohen since, well, longer than either of us would admit. I haven't always agreed with him, and I've let him know it. However, if he makes this race, I can't imagine supporting anyone else.

That's my bias, and you might as well know it up front.

Just so you know.

I'd like to see a debate between Cohen and Tinker.

Politics ain't about fair fights. That's exactly why I want to see that debate. I want Tinker's republican style, vapid campaign style discredited so no one can think they can simply buy some billboards, hire an out of state voter targeting company, buy? a website, and get 40% of their money from out of state. Nobody should consider running for US CONGRESS without making yourself available to the voters and proving you are a public servant. Who does she think she is, a poor version of Michael Huffington (Arrianna's ex-husband in California who tried to buy the Senate seat.)? It's one thing to run for an elected position, even if you know you can't win, if you want to influence the political discourse and raise awareness. Tinker isn't even doing that!

People ask why I am being so hard on Tinker and not other candidates. Well, it's what her campaign represents. She goes by the DLC playbook. Court big donors, even out of state, hire professional media guys, turn the campaign into a superficial dog and pony show, and don't make the candidate really talk to people and do the hard work of proving themselves while trying to look legitmate. Tinker's campaign is doing this more than any other candidate. Hell even Joe Ford Jr. took a risk and talked to people in public with a camera on him. What if he would have had the misfortune of walking up to autoegocrat, LC, CPL, or me. Could have gotten nasty on camera. But at least he took a chance. Tinker doesn't even do that.
